November 2019

Dear Partner,

Everyone has experienced fear and knows the feeling of fear. It is an emotion that is useful in protecting you from harm but also can sabotage your life.  Some people have a fear of flying; others have a fear of public speaking, or fear of insects.  If you examine it closely, you will find that Fear is Faith in Reverse.  It is faith in the wrong thing.  If you have a fear of public speaking, you have more faith in your ability to fail than to succeed.  Success can come from practice and faith.

When I first began taking flying lessons I had a serious advantage over other student pilots; my Dad was a pilot and I had been in airplanes almost since the day I was born.  I was not AFRAID of the airplane.  I had faith that those wings would produce lift and get me off the ground.  I had faith that if the engine quit, those same wings would allow me to glide to a cotton field where I could land without harm.  In the many years I had flown with Dad, I had watched him fly when the engine died, recovered after entering a spin, and for fun we landed on sandbars in the Arkansas riverbed!

I saw other people who had tremendous faith that the same airplane that allowed ME to glide through the air would KILL THEM!  They had faith in the negative (fear). Jesus said to the centurion in Matthew 8:13, “…as thou hast believed, so be it be done unto thee.”  If your belief and emotion is strong, it will guide you to an end result.  I have a strong belief in the power of God to protect me and the angels to deliver me safely to my destination and they have done so many times.  (I have a lot of stories about deliverance by angels.)

The day my instructor got out of the airplane and told me to go up by myself for the first time was nerve wracking…but I reminded myself that I had practiced and prepared for this day.  Would I be able to correct for the crosswind and land without damaging the airplane?  Would I panic up there with no one with me?  I ignored these thoughts and put the throttle to the firewall.  I had practiced.  I knew what to do and I loved the freedom of me alone in the air with God!

2 Timothy 1:7 says, “God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Fear is not from God.  The devil wants you to believe that he is greater and stronger and evil has more power than the power of God.  What do you choose to believe?  Faith in God or faith in the devil and evil?  If you think about it like this, it will be easier to see through the lies and deception that the enemy is bombarding you with.  Practice having faith and stepping out into the unknown.
Trust your Father.  He loves you!

       God Bless You,

       Annette Capps
